It’s sumo wrestling with explosives! BOMBFEST is an award-winning party game for you and up to three friends. Battle in wooden forts, on folding chairs, and inside the kitchen sink as you attempt to be the last player standing. Use bombs to eliminate your foes, but don’t get caught in a chain reaction of explosions!
BOMBFEST provides a fun and accessible experience for the whole family, with simple to learn mechanics and 2 button controls. The game has earned an ESRB rating of E and a PEGI rating of 6, and strives to provide a party game that everyone can enjoy.
BOMBFEST began as co-op survival game Well-Wishes by Zac Pierce, which was pitched to a panel of industry professionals at GDEX 2015. The game received praise for its gameplay, and specifically the ability to throw bombs at enemies.
BOMBFEST was adapted from Well-Wishes by going all-in on bombs, and it was first publicly presented at GDEX 2016 the following year. BOMBFEST won 3 awards: Best In Show, Crowd Favorite, and the Accessibility award. It was at GDEX that Marisa Hike joined the team as 3D artist, and later the Art Director of BOMBFEST.
In the following years, the BOMBFEST team traveled across the Midwest, presenting the game wherever they could. The composition talents of Jennifer Virnelson and Brian Freeland were requested for a soundtrack, and Matthew Trowbridge provided BOMBFEST’s array of sound effects. The game would earn Crowd Favorite at GDEX in 2017.
In 2018, BOMBFEST was picked up by Whitethorn Digital, who sought to publish the game on all major platforms and help raise money for marketing on Kickstarter. After a failed Kickstarter attempt, the team collected themselves and were able to successfully fund the game on a second Kickstarter attempt.
BOMBFEST was officially released on January 31st, 2019, for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC through Steam. The team has been hard at work creating new content for future, free updates to the game.
The first major update, BOMBFEST 1.1, was released for free on March 19th, 2019, and included a new stage, new bombs, new characters, and quality of life improvements.
